Jeannine appeared in the room across from Mary. Her face was streaked with tears and she was visibly trembling. “Mary, I remembered,” she cried. “I remembered and it was awful.”
The time has finally come for Mary to investigate Jeannine’s murder. As all clues point to someone in Bradley’s old neighborhood, Mary and Ian move into the former Alden residence and pose as newlyweds to set Mary up as bait for the killer. With Stanley and Rosie at their side, they expose the darkness hidden in the depths of Bradley’s old neighborhood.

Darkness Exposed Mary O'Reilly Series Book 5 edition by Terri Reid Paranormal Romance eBooks Reviews
Another nicely done whodunit from Terri Reid. Mary and fellow ghost investigator, Ian, focus on finding Jeanine's murderer. As with previous books, the dialogue and personalities move the plot forward without unnecessary descriptors. Ms Reid does a good job with all the suspects keeping me wondering just when I think I have solved the murder. Again, Ms Reid does not write a gory or highly detailed story. The topic is sad and cruel and Ms Reid deals with it deftly and compassionately. I like not being wrung out emotionally after reading her books. Well done.
I love her books. I think Mary and Bradley are a great couple. Sam and Rosie are such opposites it's funny when they get together. I have read all of her books in this series, up to now, and loved all of them, but this is the 1st review I have done. I like to read more than one book before I do a review to make sure the author didn't have a fluke with one or two books. I can honestly say that Terri Reid is the real deal. I will continue to read her other books.
I just loved this latest book! I love the progression of the relationships, I love having so many questions answered, I love this author's writing style!
It seems that we finally remove all obstacles away from Mary and Bradley, I can't wait to see them happily in love and working together in future books!
Terri, thank you for the conversation between Bradley and Mike in the last chapter. You portrayed the mind of an honorable LEO very realistically here. You must come from a LEO family. I can just imagine my husband saying exactly what Bradley does about taking justice into our own hands.
I gave this book 5 stars because aside from one detail, I love everything about the book!
SPOILER ALERT
Another preserved body? How many does one cop run into in a lifetime? Although, to be fair, I guess if you are working with an ex cop who can communicate with ghosts, you may run into more than your fair share...LOL
I bought the series based on a recommendation but I'm not enjoying them ... I stopped reading in mid 5th book which I never do. I assumed the writer was young & would get better but 5 is my limit (even tho I bought them all up front so that's good for her anyway.) The story is very immature and there is no consistency - she changes rules she's set up on the fly assuming to help her get somewhere she's aiming for in the story. Also, a mystery has to make sense - you can't just pick somebody random with no reasoning behind it... crazy - in one she had a neighbor bring over and practically force feed drugged muffins which was never explained except something about a husband with weird tastes (and then didn't go any further with that line, some other random neighbor was the killer - why? what the heck - sorry... these stories are just dumb
Darkness Exposed really brought this series back on track and I find myself really excited to read future installments. The humor, the characters, the relationships, and the simplicity of the story reminded me why I fell in love with it in the first place. Where these are shorter than your typical novel, there was a trend of too much going on and I was getting frustrated, but with this installment, we're brought back to basics and wrap up an arc that started five books ago. For me, I was wondering if it would ever come, but we finally find out what happened to Jeannine, Bradley's wife, 8 years ago when she disappeared and recently turned up a ghost. If you haven't read the previous books, you'll be lost in who the characters are and why you should care about them, so I would recommend reading them in order. If you have read the series, you'll be delighted by the additional character of Ian, the growth of Fireman Mike, and the progress of Mary and Bradley as well as the meaningful return of Rosie and Stanley.
The reason for only four stars instead of five is that it was pretty obvious very early on who was responsible for Jeannine's death and Rosie really got on my nerves this time around and I don't recall her being that dimwitted in past books. The motive and storyline around Jeannine's death it is dark, disturbing, but completely riveting and the side story was equally entertaining. I still stand by this series and am looking forward to the next.
Another great Mystery and love story as well. I love this series, and in this episode will find out
what happened to Jeannine, Bradley's dead wife from 8 years of her being missing.
This is such a page turner I could not put it down, I read it in two settings. So Good
But once again like the last book I took a point off for the typos wrong words, and words missing,
I wish Ms. Reid would take a closer look at her material, it is like her mind is working faster than her
fingers are on the key board. But it was such a great story that I will over look this minor detail.
I will read on in this series and I will recommend it to others...
I love a Good Ghost story and Ms. Reid tells and writes one fine Ghost story..
I am so glad I picked up the first book, they have all kept me entertained for many hours.
I love Mary, and Bradley, and Mike is such a hoot, plus Rosie and Stanley the older couple are so funny.
Mary's brother Sean plays a big roll in this one, I like him too.
If you have not read the others make sure and pick them up too, start from the first one you will enjoy getting
to know all these fine characters and all their adventures.
HAPPY READING EVERYONE................
